Dileika Wilson's Story

In 2008 I was undergoing testing at 33 and diagnosed on Christmas Eve at 34 with Stage2B Breast cancer in my left breast while in the middle of grad school at Catholic University in Washington, DC. 2009 was a year of treatment. Chemotherapy allowed my Dr. to then perform a lumpectomy, remove some lymph nodes and and remove my ovaries as my cancer was hormone receptor positive.

37 rounds of daily radiation followed surgery and I returned to finish my Masters in Human Resource Management. For the last 5 1/2 years I have co-owned a wig boutique with my mother in downtown Salisbury, NC which has allowed me to be a part in others as they journey through cancer and other things that cause them to need or want alternative hair. It has been an amazing blessing and if not for my journey, I would not have stepped out on faith and left Corporate America to do what I now love!
